WhatsApp starts rolling out frequently forwarded messages feature

WhatsApp is working on adding multi-platform support to its platform that would
allow users to access the same WhatsApp account from multiple devices even when
the primary device is turned off.

WhatsApp is constantly updating its platform adding new features and functionality to its app. In the past couple of months we have heard about a number of features, such as the dark mode, picture-in-picture (PIP) mode 2.0, in-app browser, that are expected to be available in the app in the future. Now, the Facebook-owned social messaging app has finally started rolling out some of those features on to its app.

WhatsApp has started rolling out the frequently forwarded messages feature on to its Android and iOS-based apps. The feature, as we have reported before, is being rolled out to help the WhatsApp users make a more informed decision before forwarding a message and in the process helping the company curb the spread of fake news has lead to a spate of mass lynchings in the past year.

If you are wondering how this feature works, then the answer is really simple. WhatsApp will show you a notification with double arrow highlighted in grey colour every time you try forwarding a message that has been forwarded many times in a chain before. As per reports, WhatsApp will show – “This message will be marked as forwarded many times.” – message every time you forward a message that has been forwarded many times before. However, the company will not show you the number of times the particular message has been forwarded.

As of now, WhatsApp is in the process of rolling out the frequently forwarded messages feature to its users. So don’t panic if you haven’t received the update yet.
